When she was younger, she played field hockey and lacrosse because her brother, who was an athlete, encouraged both her and her brother to be.
In addition to teaching high school physics, she also assisted herself as a snowboard coach at Whitetail Ski Resort.
Since she received a degree in meteorology, she went to high school, education, and then graduated from Penn State University in Meteorology.

When her grandmother figured out she was applying for a position at WJET/WFXP, she exposed her to what her career area was.
It never dawned on Amelia that she might become a meteorologist. However, she was still trying to picture what the conditions would be like when she was the chief of a snowboarding team. After her mother asked her if she was contemplating meteorology as a profession, the girl replied with yes.
She shows her friends customized weather reports, which they really enjoy.
Amelia chose such a career choice because she has loved the excitement of performing in front of an audience since she was young.

Segal graduated high school early, so she could start working whilst her classmates were still at school.
She was able to secure her first position at CNET while still in college. CNET is a cable station that offers links to the Central City of Pennsylvania.
After graduation from college, she followed up on her passion in meteorology by applying for a role at a local TV station and was awarded the job as a weekend meteorologist.
Amelia was at Erie for her senior year in high school. Those were the wettest, snowiest fall and winter ever on Erie, Illinois.
After they played games and talked a little, it was time to get up. WIVB-WNLO was where she started her start in broadcasting. For three years, she has been there.
On her ride in Buffalo, one unforgettable day stands out, was when she was fleeing four tornadoes in one afternoon.
A newscast at the beginning of December saw Amelia interviewing a friend of mine applying for a job at NBC 4. That contributed to the news director to watch the show, and she was given the current role. The recording shows Amelia making a hot combination of weather and advertisements.
In March 2013, after much support from her friends, Amelia eventually welcomed the invitation to move to her new role.
