Publish date: 2024-08-19

Yesterday the 2017 Brit Award nominees were announced, and while there were some amazing nominees on the list, some big names were absent.

Not for the first time the Brits have failed to nominate a number of worthy stars for gongs.

Here we have put together a list of the 5 biggest artists who were snubbed at this years Brit Awards.

Ward Thomas

Country music duo Ward Thomas had an absolutely stunning 2016. Their album ‘Cartwheels‘ was the first ever LP by a British country act to top the UK albums chart and it has since been certified Silver after selling more than 60,000 copies. And not only did the hit release get number 1 it also stayed in the top 5 for three weeks and the top 40 for six weeks. But the Brit Awards have failed to nominate the twin sisters in any category.

Shawn Mendes

Despite having a hugely successful 2016, Canadian sensation Shawn Mendes has failed to get any recognition for his British chart achievements from the Brit Awards. His album ‘Illuminate‘ was a massive top 5 hit on the UK albums chart and his singles ‘Treat You Better‘, and ‘Mercy‘ were some of the most successful last year, but he has not received a single nomination.

The Shires

British country duo The Shires scored the fastest selling album by a country music act in 2016 with their release ‘My Universe‘, and the hit LP also peaked at number 3 on the UK albums chart. But despite their massive chart success the duo have failed to be nominated in any category by the Brits.

Olly Murs

British star Olly Murs was due to perform at the Brit Awards’ launch show but after learning that he had been snubbed he cancelled his appearance. The X Factor stars album ‘24HRS‘ was one of the biggest hits last year selling 60,000 copies in its first week of sales alone. But despite the hit LP topping the UK albums chart giving Olly is fourth consecutive number 1 album he has not been nominated in a single category.

Nick Jonas

US superstar Nick Jonas had a pretty successful year on the UK charts last year. His latest album ‘Last Year Was Complicated‘ was a top 30 hit, while his single ‘Close‘ featuring Tove Lo was also a hit on the UK singles chart. But he has not received a single nomination at this years Brit Awards.
